A new horological masterpiece has been designed by Glashutte Original Watch Co., created in the endeavor to reach perfection so as to vindicate the traditional principles of the challenging art named horology: the modern Tourbillon Regulator made of platinum. It will be manufactured in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
The Tourbillon Regulator features the special design of a classic regulator display in a contemporary way.
The displays for hours, minutes, and seconds are detached from each other and set upright in a very readable fashion.
The middle part features the most interesting section of this beautifully created face. The tourbillon makes up the visual center of the face, and the ray-shaped ornamentation visually represents the energy stream.
The tourbillon features a lessened, yet very hard bridge so as it does not hamper the observation of the beating heart of this watch.
The sophisticated mechanical movement of this innovative watch features a valued classical design, providing a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. Due to its perfect construction, the tourbillon impedes the free running of the gear train, therefore controlling the seconds, minutes, and even the retrograde hours of the time shown with its constant rhythm. The power is transmitted to a module through the center gear wheel, which is clutched by the backward jump hour’s mechanism.
A pinwheel that jumps forwards 14 degrees every hour provides changing the hour display when it is time to go forwards.
Just like all Glashutte Original movements, hand-wound Caliber 46 features traditional elements of Glashutte watch industry.
