JACOB & Co. was founded in 1981 by Jacob Arabo in New York City. Jacob Arabo’s passion for jewellery began when he was a young boy growing up in Russia. Just after immigrating to the United States with his family, he enrolled in jewellery design school hoping to develop his natural talents and he quickly rose to the top of the class. Jacob opened a small booth in New York City’s bustling diamond district and quickly began designing for a number of jewellery brands and private clients.
The story continues: in the mid-1990’s a R&B singer named Faith Evans stumbled upon Jacob’s shop while shopping for jewellery for her upcoming CD cover. Completely taken in by Jacob’s creations, she quickly returned with her husband the late Notorious BIG a well established Rap Artist; the couple became loyal customers and recommended Jacob to a host of their high profile friends and thus created a large interest throughout the music industry. The result was JACOB & Co. became the place to go for custom jewellery and the name “Jacob the Jeweller” was given to Arabo.
After designing many unique diamond creations ranging from pendants to pinky rings, Jacob decided to raise the stakes and enter in new territory. Inspired by the “Jet Set” lifestyle of many of his clients The Five Time Zone Watch was born. The Design offers easy function and ability to change its look. This unique timepiece features a main dial set to local time and 4 smaller dials showing the time in New York, LA, Tokyo and Paris. The case is designed in a range of metals from Stainless Steel, Gold to Platinum. It features a Stainless Steel bezel or can be replaced with a 3.25 carats bezel. Also included are four deployment watch bands in Black, Blue, Red and Yellow. More importantly the user can change them easily with no tools. The watch can adapt to your fashion needs or your mood.
The JACOB & Co. watch also entered the international market with its debut at the Basel World Watch and Jewellery Show April 2003 in Basel, Switzerland.
