TAG Heuer's undoubted record of accomplishment has been enriched with another concept watch, the Monaco Caliber 360 LS Concept Chronograph.
At BASELWORLD 2006, TAG Heuer presented the next evolutionary phase of its 1/100th of a second chronograph technology: the Monaco Caliber 360 LS (Linear Second) Concept Chronograph, a new stylish watch with a novel architecture proudly showing the premium Caliber 360 LS precision technology inside the masterwork.
Encouraged by the Avant-Garde Monaco V4 design, the dial-less Monaco Caliber 360 LS uses scrupulously hand-finished engine bridges to give the following functions:
- Extra-large 1/100th of a second chronograph counter exterior to the chronograph engine at 6 o'clock.
- 15-minute chronograph counter inbuilt in the chronograph engine at the 9 o'clock position.
- 100-minute power reserve indicator, also inbuilt, placed at the 12 o'clock position.
- A linear second indicator, also inbuilt, placed at the 3 o'clock position.
The seven distinct gold metal-covered finishings of the bridges not just improve the chronograph's legibility, but also make an unquestionably avant-garde and prestigious face. Square-faced and in classic Monaco spirit, the Monaco Caliber 360 LS maintains the design of the original version yet it is ultra-modern, with a highly faceted shiny steel case, curved sapphire crystal glass with case-integrated facets, and inbuilt indications inside the chronograph engine. The two square sapphire crystal windows on the case-back provide a very different perspective on the Caliber 360 LS movement, beautifully decorated with Cote de Geneve tracery. The detailing is superb too: protective sleeves for chronograph buttons and fully incorporated rubber band with solid folding buckle and safety buttons.
Monaco Sixty-Nine
Unveiled at BASELWORLD 2002, TAG Heuer's Microtimer, the first Swiss wristwatch accurate to 1/1000th of a second, won the prestigious Best Design Award at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve. In 2003, this groundbreaking watch entered the world watch market and became one of that year's most popular watches.
