New in box IWC, the Portuguese automatic chronograph first came into being in the 1930’s when IWC made watches for two Portuguese businessmen, they continued the production of the Portuguese line and named them after the first two customers. It is particularly apt that the watch should be so named, since the Portuguese once ruled the seas with superior navigational skills. They took a great interest not only in navigation but also precise time measurement, and that is certainly something not amiss with IWC watches.
